By completing this data disc a small fighter will be converted into a scanner ship
Data discs
You assemble data discs from fragments found at alien planets – for new technologies or powerful single-use bonuses against aliens.
Data discs are alien technology in pieces. Each disc consists of several different fragments. Once you have all of them, the disc is complete. You can check your progress in the research window on the Data Discs tab. How many fragments each disc needs and what it does is shown in the overview at the end of this page.
Two kinds of discs
- Technology discs: Data-Disc-Secrets and Data-Disc-Spawn unlock something permanently. Secrets allows you to convert the ship type Small fighter into the Scanner ship. With Spawn you see new alien planets two days before they arrive and the wormhole for two more days after the alien has left – so you can still recycle there. You get each of them only once. When it is complete, you find no more fragments of it.
- Single-use discs: Power, Loot, Urplasma, Evolution and Wormhole each work exactly once and are used up afterwards. You can collect their fragments again and again and assemble as many of them as you like.
How to get fragments
- Recycling: Now and then you find fragments in the debris fields of alien planets. However, they have been damaged in battle and must be repaired first. A Scanner ship in the recycling flight improves your yield.
- Fighting and chasing away: When you attack alien planets, your scanner ships search for intact fragments – every scanner that survives the battle can bring one back. Without scanners in the fleet you find nothing there. Your best chances come when you chase an alien away for good. The Data-fragment radar from Xtra Power raises the chance even further (Alien planets).
- Other sources: The Interdimensional Transmitter can hand out data discs (Interdimensional Transmitter), and some events hand out fragments as well (Events).
Repairing damaged fragments
You restore damaged fragments with the research Reconstruct data discs. You pick a mode – quick, detailed, precise or professional reconstruction. The longer the research takes, the better your chances. The professional reconstruction costs Urplasma but always succeeds. You learn the result by message. As long as you are still missing one of the two technology discs, reconstruction only yields fragments you still need for those discs.
Using single-use discs
You tick Power, Loot, Urplasma and Wormhole in the Data disc box when you send an attack on an alien planet – they are used up with that attack. Evolution is activated on the Data Discs tab: all your mines then run at 500% for two hours. This is not possible while a multi-production is already running.
By completing this data disc alien planets can be seen 2 days before spawning and 2 days after disappearing.
Using this data disc aliens can be attacked with 10% more firepower.
Using this data disc up to 100% instead of the normal 50% of the resources can be captured in a succesful attack on alien planets.
Using this data disc a small amount of urplasma can be captured on alien planets.
Using this data disc the production of all of your mines can be raised during a short period.
This data disc allows you to create a wormhole and carry out an instant attack on an alien planet.
