Cuts the build time of all other buildings on this planet – the key accelerator for a fast-growing empire.
Every planet starts with its Development center at level 1, and it can't go any lower. The column “Build time of other buildings” shows how much of the level 1 build time remains: level 2 halves all build times, level 3 cuts them to a third. Later the gain per level gets smaller, but on builds that take days it still saves many hours.
The Development center only works on the planet it stands on – every colony needs its own. It also unlocks key buildings: the Research lab at level 2, the Weapons factory at level 3 and the Microsystem accelerator at level 12.
Build it early and regularly: levels 2 and 3 as soon as possible, then whenever your next mine levels start taking noticeably long. It costs metal, kryptonite and spice, and the cost doubles with every level.
At level 12 the Microsystem accelerator comes into play, halving build times again with every level – for buildings as well as for ships and defense.
Background
With the help of the development center, building plans are issued and coordinated. This building is the first building of a colony and without it no structured settlement would be possible. In later development of the colony the building might be expanded with a microsystem accelerator to manage the growing colony and to support construction of buildings and ships properly. A development center will accelerate the planning of buildings and therefore reduce the construction time.
