Reconstruct data discs

Repairs damaged data disc fragments. You choose between four modes – the longer the reconstruction, the higher the chance of success.

Reconstruct data discs

How it works

You need Reconstruct data discs to make damaged fragments of data discs usable again. It has no levels and costs no resources, but every run uses up one damaged fragment. The research card shows how many you own under “Damaged fragments”. The only requirement is a Research lab at level 1.

You get damaged fragments mainly from battles against aliens and from recycling their debris fields, and sometimes from events. With the Scanner ship you find considerably more fragments in alien debris fields.

The four modes

  • Fast reconstruction: 4 hours, 20% chance.
  • Extended reconstruction: 8 hours, 50% chance.
  • Exact reconstruction: 12 hours, 80% chance.
  • Professional reconstruction: 2 hours, 100% chance – costs an extra 10 Urplasma (Urplasma).

If the reconstruction succeeds, you get an intact fragment of a random data disc, and a system message tells you which one. If it fails, the damaged fragment is lost.

Background

In this elaborate process researches attempt to read damaged fragments and secure data to restore the fragment. Succes or failure depends on the degree of damage. With every stage, the time required to reconstruct is extended and the chance of successful recovery increases.
