Imperial star base

The mightiest ship in the game: a flying fortress with tremendous firepower and a huge cargo hold – but painfully slow.

The imperial starbase plays in a league of its own: a single one has as much attack as 50 destroyers and a hull worth entire fleets. In return, it costs a small fortune, takes a very long time to build and requires Black hole research.

Strengths and weaknesses

+ Gigantic attack, shield and hull.
+ 3.5 million cargo space – it carries the loot itself.
– Extremely slow and with the longest setup time of all ships: even short trips take a long time, and it slows down any fleet.
– The Solar cannon deals bonus damage to it – and losing it is a serious setback.

Because the whole fleet flies at the starbase's pace, faster escort ships burn less fuel on the way. Even so, it is best suited for nearby targets and for protecting your own planets.

Background

The imperial star base has the size of a middle sized moon. Therefore it is hardly movable with conventional engines. Only with the help of the black hole research it is possible to move this gigantic mass. The maximum speed still remains very low. This feature does not make this ship the ideal attack platform but as a defence ship it is able to defeat small fleets.
