The top of the tech tree: only this research makes it possible to move the gigantic Imperial starbase at all.
Role
Black hole research requires a Research lab at level 8, Warp engine level 10 and Graviton technology level 10. From level 2 – with a Weapons factory at level 13 – you can build the Imperial star base.
Even level 1 is expensive and takes a long time. Plan the road there in good time: warp engine and graviton technology at level 10 are big steps in themselves.
Background
This technology enhances a warp field so that the time-space continuum is bent and it is possible to generate a field similar to a black hole. The field itself has a strong gravitational force and is able to even move massive objects like the imperial star base. This technology is also used to generate a gravitational field on bigger ships, enabling the crew to move normally.
